Project portfolio: Costa Coffee Newport

Costa Coffee

Costa Coffee has a brand-wide commitment to sustainable values at every level of its operations. Nowhere is this more evident than in their recently completed drive-thru and café, located at Newport’s Old Town Dock development.

This striking timber-framed structure with its elegantly curved roof – echoing the nearby Usk river bridge – is among the UK’s first ‘zero-energy’ retail units. Extensive solar panels on the building’s roof generate enough renewable energy to meet the café’s annual power needs. With under-floor heating and highly effective insulation this building is an exemplar of energy efficient construction techniques.

Continuing our long-standing association with Costa Coffee, Harvey acted as Principal Contractor for the project, delivering a comprehensive fit-out service for this empty-shell structure. This included full mechanical and electrical installation throughout, encompassing illuminated signage, touchscreens, video displays, CCTV and EV charging points. Interior features encompassed flooring, decoration, furnishings, partitions, counters, display units and coffee station equipment.
