Project Description
Project portfolio: Nando’s Restaurants
Nando’s
Nando’s requires little introduction. The restaurant chain has been one of the UK’s fastest-growing and most popular eateries, gaining a legion of fans for their signature take on peri-peri seasoned fried chicken.
With their origins in South Africa, and inspired by the spicy sauces developed by Portuguese settlers to the continent, Nando’s restaurants are characterised by their varied and distinctive interior design schemes that strikingly evoke the styles and colours of Africa.
Harvey Fit-out Contractors have been associated with Nando’s since 2004, installing some 54 restaurants for them across the UK to date. We work in close cooperation with Nando’s interior design teams to realise their stylish and inventive concepts. In particular we assist with sourcing the materials – such as reclaimed timbers and metals – that play an important role in achieving the particular look and patina of their restaurant interiors, and give them their unique atmosphere.
The most recently completed project involved the expansion of an existing premises at Longwell Green in Bristol. Removal of a partition wall to combine with an adjacent unit provided the opportunity to extend capacity and create a cavernous space, now defined by an impressive, contoured suspended ceiling that emphasises the sense of scale. Originally intended to be rendered in copper, cost implications meant that we eventually fabricated this feature from aged mild steel. As with every Nando’s installation that we do, we sourced all materials and fabricated every feature of this complex interior theme, together with installing all service fitments such as the professional cooking ranges in the kitchen area.
From first steps of combining the two adjacent units to final completion and handover the project was delivered by us in just seven weeks.
