Project Description

Project portfolio: Kin House wedding & events venue

Kin House, Wiltshire

This luxuriously appointed country house hotel wedding and events venue opened to guests in April 2022.

The launch of Kin House was the culmination of a two-year project involving the comprehensive refurbishment and refit of this historic property, formerly a care home and before that once serving as a military hospital. The project timescale was impacted by pandemic restrictions and the additional health & safety management requirements this brought.

The project saw the entire property stripped back to bare brickwork and boards before its transformation into the vision devised by architects and interior designers Barlow & Barlow, who were active in directing the project throughout. The absolute highest standards of quality in finish and fixtures were specified at every stage.

The scope of works undertaken by Harvey was extensive, encompassing structural, decoration, plumbing and electrical, audio/visual, together with other facilities such as the installation of a commercial catering kitchen. The project also called for major groundworks, landscaping the property’s grounds, adding pathways and a car park.

Whilst the primary historic building required careful and sensitive renovation there was also a 600m2 extension dating from the 1980s that was demolished and replaced on the same footprint with an entirely new, sympathetically styled steel-framed structure to extend the venue’s capacity.

Total fit-out and refurbishment project value approximately £5m.
